The National Campaign for Civil Registration: A Second Stage to Create a Citizenship Dynamic to Enlarge Involvement to Register Children
The Moroccan Government launched the second stage of the National Campaign for Civil Registration on Monday, June 11th, 2018. This campaign is organized with the slogan “civil registration is a constitutional right: I am registred. Therefore, I am.”
The Head of the Government issued circular No. 12/2017 dated September 4th, 2017, to launch the campaign’s first stage, leading to the registration of 23151 persons all over Morocco. There are still 39481 applications under processing. In addition, the number of declaratory judgments that have been rendered in this regard has reached 16808.
To ensure maximum involvement of the target population and a strong mobilization of the parties concerned with the campaign’s implementation, a second stage of this campaign was launched involving the participation of all concerned governmental departments. It is organized in partnership with United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) aiming at the creation of a citizenship dynamic to sensitize and participate in the national Campaign for Civil Registration to guarantee access to the rights to all children.
This second stage is characterized by the participation of both Mehdi Benatia, the captain of Moroccan national soccer team, and artist Hanane Fadili, the UNICEF’s goodwill ambassador, in an awareness-raising spot to be broadcasted on Moroccan national television channels starting from mid-June 2018.
